    Battles of Alamance County
    Patriots Day

    The annual Patriot’s Day Celebration, commemorating the Battles of Clapp Mill, Pyle’s Defeat, and Lindley’s Mill as well as the Battle of Alamance fought May 16, 1771. There will be living history programs, battlefield tours, musket firing demonstrations throughout the day as well as the annual commemorative ceremony for these three significant battles.

    The NC SAR poster and brochure state level contest will be judged at the
    Alamance Battleground visitor’s center at 12:00 Noon. Please bring posters and
    brochures for judging at that time.

    Participants in the 2:00 PM wreath laying ceremony are requested to arrive at the Patriots’ Monument by 1:30 PM. The NCSSAR combined Color Guard will lead the processional.  2026 – Patriots Day Invitation

    Fayetteville America 250 Celebration

    The Lafayette Society and the Sons of the American Revolution, Le Marquis de Lafayette Chapter of Fayetteville, North Carolina will celebrate America’s 250th anniversary on Saturday May 16, 2026, from noon to 1pm, at Lafayette Plaza in Downtown Fayetteville, North Carolina.

    There will be proclamations, musket volleys, a remembrance of local Patriots of the American Revolution and a celebration of the anniversary of the naming of Fayetteville, North Carolina in 1783.

    The public is cordially invited to attend. 18th or 19th century period dress, or modern patriotic attire, is encouraged but not required! There will be refreshments afterwards. The park is directly across from First Presbyterian Church, which is located at 102 Ann Street
