William McConkey Townsend was born April 16, 1750, in Bladen County, North Carolina. He served as a private in Captain John Willis’ company, Wilmington District, North Carolina Militia, which included Bladen and Robeson Counties.
Not much more is known about William Townsend except that he spent his life in Robeson County and died there on July 21, 1830.
