    The North Carolina Brigade of the Society of the Descendants of Washington’s Army at Valley Forge and the General Francis Nash Chapter NC SAR invite you to a Grave Marking for Mathew McCauley. Mathew McCauley was 27 when he enlisted as a Lieutenant in the 10th North Carolina Regiment in July 1777.  He joined Washington’s Main Army and trained at Valley Forge.   As the North Carolina Line reduced in numbers, McCauley moved to the 6th North Carolina Regiment and was promoted to Captain in the summer of 1778.  He was at the battle of Briar Creek (March 3, 1779) and mustered out in the Fall of 1779 when the 6thNorth Carolina Regiment was disbanded.  He went on to serve in the Militia in Hillsboro.

    The next General Francis Nash Chapter Luncheon Meeting will be November 16, at the University Club, in University Tower in Durham (the "Green Weenie").  The program will be presented by GFN's Rod Mullen, discussing how the Revolutionary War was funded.  We will also affirm the reelection of the current officers for another term through 2026.

    The cost for lunch will be $20 (cash).
