Blue Ridge Chapter Recent Activities

Chartered 21 April 1928 in Asheville, North Carolina, it later became the Blue Ridge Chapter and is the oldest active Chapter in Western North Carolina.

On Saturday, April 18, 2026, the Blue Ridge Chapter Color Guard presented colors in the welcome home event for the veteran’s honor flight arriving at the airport in Asheville, North Carolina. Blue Ridge Chapter Compatriot and veteran David Gunther was on this flight. Blue Ridge Chapter Color Guard members who participated included: Craig Issacson, Garry Linton, and Ken Weglarz. Including the veterans, about 700 people attended this event.

On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, Blue Ridge Chapter member Craig Issacson presented the SAR Medal, Certificate, and scholarship funds to JROTC Cadet Jacob Ingle at T.C. Robertson High School in Arden, North Carolina.  About 150 people were in attendance for this event.

Blue Ridge Chapter members Craig Issacson and Garry Linton developed and coordinated the UNC Asheville (UNCA) Osher Living Learning Institute (OLLI) course, The American Revolution: Overlooked Histories from March 24 through May 12, 2026, on the UNCA campus in Asheville, North Carolina. Sessions on various topics of the Revolution were presented during the eight-week period. Blue Ridge Chapter members Ron Chapman, Craig Issacson, Garry Linton, and Tom Rightmyer served as speakers for the course.

On May 16, 2026, in Burlington, North Carolina, Blue Ridge Chapter member Garry Linton served in the Color Guard in the presentation of the colors during the Annual Patriot’s Day in Alamance County North Carolina. Compatriot Linton also placed a wreath at the site. About 30 people attended this event.

It is easy to see that the Blue Ridge Chapter is an active, energetic, busy Chapter that is always looking for new members to help us reach our challenging goals for the recognition of the sacrifices our Patriots made for us to enjoy all the freedoms we have today.
