On Saturday, December 19th, several members of the New Bern Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, and their families, participated in the Wreath laying activities at the New Bern National Cemetery. Rear Admiral Jay DeLoach, New Bern Chapter President, presents the Bronze Outstanding JROTC Medal to Naval Cadet Edward Moore, Operations Officer at the Naval JROTC unit and a senior at New Bern High School. Cadet Moore has aspirations of attending the U.S. Naval Academy.

At the request of the Halifax County Library the Halifax Resolves Chapter put up a display honoring all veterans, past and present.  This is the sixth year the chapter has provided the display.

On October 21st, New Bern City Mayor, Dana Outlaw, and Anderson (Andy) Whittaker, a Junior at Epiphany High School and son of SAR member Russ Whittaker, were both inducted into the SAR. Dana Outlaw’s Patriot Ancestor is James Outlaw, and Andy’s Patriot Ancestor is Stephen Orcutt.
