Council Oak Dedication
The Council Oak is an important landmark in Burke County History.
The original Council Oak was a massive historic tree at Quaker Meadows where Revolutionary War militia leaders gathered on September 30, 1780, to plan the pursuit of Major Patrick Ferguson ahead of the Battle of Kings Mountain.
The Col Alexander Erwin Chapter invites you to a dedication ceremony for the new tree, which was planted last year, on October 1st at 1030am at the corner of AJs restaurant, located at 101 Bost Road, Morganton, NC.
Afterwards, at 1pm, some chapter members will attend the 52nd Annual March and Crossing Tribute of Greenlee Ford by the Overmountain Men, located at 128 Greenlee Ford, Morganton, NC.
