Living history, battlefield tours, and area exhibitors celebrating the beginning of the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution in Alamance County (historically Orange County)

Please Note: The National Park service will provide only a couple of dozen chairs for the audience. To guarantee a place to sit, please bring your own foldable camp chair. In the event of rain, the event will be moved indoors to the Visitors Center, but wreath-laying will be curtailed due to space limitations in the Auditorium.
Honoring America’s Forgotten Patriots at the USS North Carolina
As part of the nationwide commemoration of America’s 250th anniversary, the Stamp Defiance Chapter, NSDAR, invites the public to the Dedication of the Daughters of the American Revolution America 250 Plaque honoring America’s Forgotten Patriots of the American Revolution.
The dedication will take place on March 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Battleship Park, home of the USS North Carolina, in Wilmington, North Carolina. Remarks will be provided by Dr. Jay Martin, Director of the USS North Carolina, along with additional commentary recognizing the service and sacrifice of Forgotten Patriots whose contributions helped secure American independence.
The Sons of the American Revolution Color Guard will present the Colors. The Eugene Ashley High School NJROTC will serve as Honor Guard and lead the Pledge of Allegiance, and the Tryon Palace Fife and Drum Corps will perform traditional 18th-century military tunes. A reception will follow the dedication ceremony.
The New Bern Chapter-SAR, Richard Dobbs Spaight Chapter-DAR, and St. Johns Masonic Lodge #3 cordially invite all to join us for a Liberty Tree Dedication Ceremony.

The Town of River Bend will be having a Liberty Tree dedication ceremony on March 26th at 12 pm. at 51 Shoreline Dr, River Bend NC, The Liberty Tree will be part of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (NSSAR) Liberty Tree Project that aims to plant 250 Liberty Trees nationwide by July 4, 2026, honoring the 250th anniversary of the U.S. This initiative, launched in 2023, commemorates the original Boston tree, a symbol of colonial resistance, by placing trees and educational plagues in communities to honor Revolutionary Patriots.
Participating in the River Bend dedication will be the New Bern Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR), the Richard Dobbs Spaight Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and St. John’s No. 3, Masonic Lodge (Chartered 1772). The New Bern SAR Chapter Color Guard is planning to perform a “live fire musket volley” as part of the ceremony.
