General Francis Nash & Raleigh Chapters' SAR Oratory Competitions

North Carolina SAR Oratory Contest Chairman Lowell Hoffman kicks off the 2023 Rumbaugh Competition The General Francis Nash and Raleigh Chapters will hold their joint Joseph S. Rumbaugh Historical Orations Competitions on Saturday, March 16th, from 9:30 AM to 12 Noon at Governors Club in Chapel Hill.
Hear 9 gifted young Orators and be inspired. Following the Competitions will be the General Francis Nash Chapter Meeting and SAR Oratory Contest Awards Luncheon, where the Chapter winners will be announced and repeat their Orations. Since GFN and Raleigh are the only NC Chapters conducting Oration Competitions, a State Panel of Judges will then announce the North Carolina SAR Oratory Contest winner, who will go on to participate in the National SAR Oratory Contest, which concludes at the SAR National Congress in July.For additional information, please contact North Carolina SAR Oratory Contest Chairman Lowell Hoffman ( or 919-656-9955) to receive logistics information including gate access to Governors Club.

While there will be complimentary scones, fruit, coffee and juice for the morning session, there will be a charge of $25/person for the buffet luncheon.

General Francis Nash Chapter Meeting and SAR Oratory Contest Awards Luncheon

The General Francis Nash Chapter Meeting and SAR Oratory Contest Awards Luncheon will follow the General Francis Nash and Raleigh Chapters’ SAR Oratory Competitions on Saturday, March 16, from 12 Noon to 1:30 PM, at Governors Club in Chapel Hill.
North Carolina SAR Treasurer Sam Powell presents Awards to 2023 State Winners Joshua Paul, Third Place, Gio Cacciato, Second Place, and Aliza Jankowsky, First Place The Chapters’ winners will be announced, and repeat their Orations, and the State Judges will announce the North Carolina SAR Oratory Contest winner, who will go on to compete in the National SAR Oratory Contest.
The cost of the buffet luncheon will be $25.
