The location is at Saint John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. The time would start around 3:00 PM, and it is followed by a Misenheimer Family Reunion in the Fellowship Hall there on campus at Saint John’s Lutheran Church. Any SAR members are welcome to stay to have cover dish dinner around 4:00 PM as well.
The Halifax Resolves Chapter will meet at 6:30 pm Wednesday, September 12, 2018, in the Fellowship Hall of the Halifax United Methodist Church, 152 King St., Halifax, NC. A meal will be served at a cost of $10.00 per person. Our guest speaker will be Traci Thompson, Certified Genealogist and Librarian at the Braswell Library in Rocky Mount. She will be describing her search to distinguish between two people of the same name in historical records.

Here is the necessary information about the upcoming vigil at George and Martha Washington’s Tomb. This event will be held on 15 September 2018 at Mount Vernon. Like before, we will meet at the Administration (Cunningham) Building at 8:00am and walk down to tomb at 8:30am sharp so that we have the first Color Guard in place at 9:00am.
Remember, NO Muskets, Swords or other weapons are allowed!
The watch will start at 9:00am and change every 15 minutes (30 minutes depending on the weather and number of participants). The last shift will end at 5:30pm if we have sufficient participation. Please consider coming this year and join us.
I will again be asking those who are attending to please give me a time or times that they would like to stand watch at the tomb (Email: ). I will try to make sure that you get the times you request.

A grave marking ceremony for Compatriot Nicholas Bunn Boddie will be held at 10:00 pm Saturday, September 15, 2018. The grave is located in the Boddie Family Cemetery on Rose Hill Plantation, 2815 Rose Hill Lane, Nashville, NC 27856. Compatriot Boddie was a member of the now defunct Rocky Mount Chapter NC SAR.
Boy Scout Troop 144 of Roanoke Rapids, the Halifax Resolves Chapter NC SAR and the Alamance Battleground Chapter NC SAR will host a flag retirement ceremony at Veterans Park, 701 Roanoke Ave., Roanoke Rapids at 10:00 am on September 22nd.
