    Admission of Edward R Schowalter Jr to NCSSAR on a memorial membership.  The family will be presented with the War Services Medal.  The reading of the Declaration of Independence by period dressed interpreters, John Turner and Janelle Preman.  Colonel Schowalter will be inducted into the National SAR Medal of honor awardee site..  Please come out and show your support for this honored compatriot.  There will also be the performance of our National Anthem by Saoirsegrainne Mclain.

    Patriot Square Dedication and Bear Unveiling

    The SAR New Bern Chapter, and DAR Richard Dobbs Spaight Chapter will host a ceremony to dedicate the New Bern Patriot Square, and unveil the New Patriot Bears. The event will take place in the new Patriot Square located next to New Bern City Hall. That evening, for $32.00, There will also be a catered buffet, which will require preregistration and payment.     252nd Anniversary of the New Bern Resolves, New Bern NC

    252nd New Bern Resolves

    The SAR New Bern Chapter, DAR Richard Dobbs Spaight Chapter, the North Carolina History Center and Tryon Palace Historic Site, St. Johns Masonic Lodge #3, the National Sojourners, Valley of New Bern Scottish Rite, and  New Bern York Rite will host a ceremony in remembrance of the 71 Delegates and Resolves of America’s First Provincial Congress held in New Bern during 25-27 August 1774.

    The event will be in person on:

    Saturday, 22 August 2026: Check-in NC History Center, 8:00-9:00 a.m.

    Line-up at 9:00 a.m. Procession starts at 9:30 a.m. Ceremony follows.

    Subject: Women of the American Revolution

    The Ceremony will begin at approximately 10:00 a.m. at the South Lawn of Tryon Palace, 529 South Front Street, New Bern, NC 28562.

    There will be a STATIC  ONLY (no color guard or Greetings/Wreath Presentation options) Zoom session for anyone wishing to view the procession and ceremony.

    2. Sign-up for those wishing to present a wreath/render honors (IN-PERSON Only)
