The SAR ceremony will take place at 10:00 – 11:00 with Color Guard, wreath presentations by SAR and DAR chapters presenting honors.
The SAR ceremony keynote speaker is LeRae Umfleet. Ms. Umfleet works with the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources to develop outreach and specialty programming projects on behalf of the Secretary’s office, including her latest project – coordinating the America 250 NC commemoration.

The North Carolina Society, SAR cordially invites you to attend our 2024 Summer Board of Manager’s Meeting and NCSSAR National Candidates Forum to be held Saturday, August 17th at the North Carolina State University Club, 4200 Hillsborough St, Raleigh, NC 27606 with the meeting beginning at 11:00AM. A room has been reserved for the Ladies Auxiliary, who will be meeting concurrently with us so please feel free to invite your significant others. The cost for the meal and the facility is $30 per person. Lunch will consist of a deli meat and cheese buffet. We need all attendees (Board of Managers and Ladies Auxiliary) to please RSVP below no later than Friday, August 9th. Dress code for the meeting will be blazer and tie or Colonial/Military/Revolutionary War Uniform. All State Officers, Chapter Presidents, and Committee Chairmen please send your reports to Bob Sigmon at no later than Wednesday, August 7th. We look forward to seeing you on Saturday, August 17th!

250th Anniversary of the New Bern Resolves, New Bern NC

The SAR New Bern Chapter, DAR Richard Dobbs Spaight Chapter, the North Carolina History Center and Tryon Palace Historic Site, St. Johns Masonic Lodge #3, the National Sojourners, Valley of New Bern Scottish Rite, and New Bern York Rite will host a ceremony in remembrance of the 71 Delegates and Resolves of America’s First Provincial Congress held in New Bern during 25-27 August 1774.
The event will be in person on:

Five (5) Patriot Grave Markings at Christ Episcopal Church, 309 Middle Street, New Bern NC, 28560
4:30pm: Color Guard Line-up on. Sidewalk just below at Patriot’s Corner on Middle Street.
5:00-6:00pm: Grave Marking Ceremony, Colonial Chapel area, Christ Episcopal Church, 320 Pollock St, New Bern, NC 28560
6:00 pm Catered Buffet Supper – Harrison Center, 311 Middle Street, New Bern, 28560 (Ticket purchase required for catered buffet)
Saturday, 24 August 2024: Check-in NC History Center, 8:00-9:00 a.m.
Line-up at 9:00 a.m. Procession starts at 9:30 a.m. Ceremony follows.
Guest Speaker: Chief Justice Paul Newby, NC Supreme Court
The Ceremony will begin at approximately 10:00 a.m. at the South Lawn of Tryon Palace,
.There will be a STATIC ONLY (no color guard or Greetings/Wreath Presentation options) Zoom session for anyone wishing to view the procession and ceremony.
