    The Sandhills SAR Chapter invites all to join us for a day of living history to honor the 240th Anniversary of the attack at The Alston House or The House in the Horseshoe. Living history displays on 18th Century life as well as scheduled demonstrations will occur throughout the day.

    The event will be in person, on Saturday August 7th at 10:00 am and also broadcast via ZOOM:

    The site will have scheduled demonstrations including paint making,  medical display, display of antique firearms, a militia encampment and more. Tours of the Alston House are also available. The usual afternoon reenactment of the battle will not be held this year.  There will be no events on Sunday.

    If you would like to present a wreath, that is very much appreciated and the opportunity is scheduled into the event planning. Please indicate below whether that would be on site or vitural.

    The 246th Anniversary of the Signing of the Tryon Resolves is scheduled for:
    Who: NC SAR Battle of Kings Mountain Chapter
    When: Saturday, 14 August, 2021 starting at 10:30 a.m.
    Where: Tryon Resolves Monument, Bessemer City NC (See direction below.)
    What: Ceremony will consist of the following sequence of events:
    ·  Call to order
    ·  Invocation
    ·  Short remarks regarding the significance of the event
    ·  Reading of the “Tryon Resolves” and the names of the signers
    ·  Recognition of participating organizations and representatives
    ·  Benediction
    ·  Closing
     
    Directions to Tryon Resolves Monument: The marker is located between Bessemer City and Cherryville on the 2500 block of Tryon Courthouse Road (Highway 274). Heading north towards Cherryville the marker is on the left before the intersection with Tryon School Road. A North Carolina Highway Historical Marker for Tryon County (O-29) is next to the marker.

    The Summer BOM Meeting will be held at the North Carolina State University Club, 4200 Hillsborough St, Raleigh, NC 27606. With concerns over COVID-19, there is ample space to spread out to maintain social distancing. Face masks are encouraged and there will be ample hand sanitizer available. For those who decide not to attend in person, you can access the meeting via Zoom. Either way, please RSVP by Monday, August 16. For those attending in person, lunch will be a Deli meat and cheese buffet.

    All State Officers, Chapter Presidents, and Committee Chairmen please send your reports to Bob Sigmon at not later than August 2, 2021.

    Color Guard, indicate if you will dress in uniform or colonial attire.

    Ladies Auxiliary will hold their business meeting in a room to be determined.
