The next New Bern Chapter meeting will be on May 13th at 11am. We’re having it this time at Savage’s Woodburning Pizzeria down town (near Tryon Palace), in the side room, on the right, as you enter the restaurant. Their address is 303 Metcalf St. The meeting will start at 11am (you’re welcome to buy drinks before the meeting), and then after the meeting, we’re planning to stay and have lunch together. On May 13 at noon, the Mecklenburg Chapter will be supporting the Clear Creek Militia Chapter of the DAR at a grave marking for Revolutionary Patriot Captain Matthew Stewart. Philadelphia Presbyterian Church, 11501 Bain School Rd, Mint Hill, NC 28227.
On Friday, May 19, the annual ceremony for the Signing of the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence will take place at the corner of Trade & Tryon in Uptown Charlotte beginning at noon. To participate, please contact Jay Joyce at .
SAR, DAR, CAR, and SR societies and chapters are invited to participate in a formal wreath laying ceremony at the Park’s US Monument beginning at 10:30 a.m.
Participants desiring to present wreaths must deliver them to the Park no later than 10:00 a.m., May 27th, to label and arrange them.
All compatriots are encouraged to wear period dress (Continental or Militia). Wreaths may be dedicated to a unit or group of patriots or an individual patriot. To ensure all participants are recognized in the celebration program, it is requested you complete and MAIL your intent for my receipt no later than May 22nd to:
