SAR, DAR, C.A.R. and other patriotic and lineage societies & chapters are invited to participate in a formal wreath laying ceremony at the United States’ Monument. Participants presenting a wreath must deliver it to the Visitors Center no later than 9:00 am on October 7th for labeling and transportation to the monument. Transportation will be provided for those needing assistance to the monument. Continental, militia or period attire is encouraged.

The Mecklenburg chapter, North Carolina SAR, the Major William Chronicle chapter, North Carolina DAR, and the Smith Cemetery Historic Preservation Association invite you to attend the grave marking for two (2) Revolutionary War Patriots, Matthew Armstrong and Matthew Leeper. From Kings Mountain go west on Highway 74 until you get to South Post Road or 180 turn Left on 180 at the Stop Light. Go south on 180 go by the Pinnacle Charter School on the Right. Keep going South on 180 until you come to the intersection of 226. Go Left on 226 or Earl Road continue to go South on 226 past Ingles Supermarket on the left to Patterson Springs until you get to Lowery Store at the Stop Light continue on 226 or Cleveland Avenue to the left. Go past the Patterson Springs Church on the Left continue on 226 toward Grover NC. You will see Brookfield Drive on the Left. Turn Left on Brookfield Drive continue on Brookfield Drive until you see Ponder Road on the Right Turn right on to Ponder Road Continue on Ponder Road a little ways Cemetery is off Ponder Road or 2209
The Halifax Resolves Chapter will mark the graves of Compatriots Rev. Charles Blinding DuRant, Dr. Claiborne Thweatt Smith, Sr. and Stuart Hall Hill on October 29th, 2016 at 10:00.
