The New Bern Chapter of the NC Sons of the American Revolution presented an SAR Certificate of Appreciation to the Executive Board of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, of New Bern on December 14. The church property was the venue for the New Bern Resolves ceremony on August 24 that commemorated the 25 Resolves in the proceedings of the 1st NC Provincial Congress held in old Courthouse in New Bern from August 25-27, 1774. The site of the old Courthouse is believed to have existed in the middle of a turnaround that had previously existed in what is now the intersection of Broad St and Middle St. The next annual New Bern Resolves commemoration will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2020.
