As a lead up to Veterans Day, New Bern Chapter President Jay DeLoach gave a presentation on the 14 wooden-hull warships built by Barbour Boat Works during World War II on November 3 at the North Carolina History Center of Tryon Palace. The presentation covered the combat operations of the minesweepers, net layers, and salvage & rescue vessels that served in the British Royal Navy in the European theater particularly during the Normandy invasion, and the US Navy in the Pacific theater in the Okinawa campaign.
