On September 9th, the New Bern Chapter of the NC Sons of the American Revolution co-sponsored a Family Day barbeque for the 125 National Guard personnel and their families (~ 300 people total) of the 694th Maintenance Company of New Bern. The 694th Unit is scheduled to deploy to Kuwait in October. The New Bern Chapter recruited other organizations from the Craven County Veterans Council, who helped contribute foodstuff, monetary donations, and volunteers for this event. Four bands also donated their time to play a variety of music for the Guardsmen and their families on a wonderful Sunday afternoon.
