New Bern Chapter JROTC Candidate Wins at State
On April 6, during the Youth Awards Luncheon, at the North Carolina Society Sons of the American Revolution (NCSSAR) 91st Annual Convention in Raleigh, Cadet Annie Anderson was recognized as the North Carolina Society winner of the Enhanced JROTC Cadet Award. She received the Silver JROTC Medallion, a certificate, and a $750 cash award. Later this year, Annie will go on to compete at the National level.
Cadet Anderson is a junior at Pamlico High School and is the Chief of Staff of the NJROTC Unit. She sports a 4.4 GPA and stands 2nd in her class of 111 students. She is the Academic Team Commander and led the Academic Team, to the NJROTC Academic finals in Daytona Beach, FL. She also participates in the Unit’s drill team and the Cyber Patriot Team. Cadet Anderson is currently the Student Government Vice President, Health Occupations Students of America Vice President, and a member of the BETA Club. She is a varsity basketball player on the Pamlico High School Girls Basketball team, who won the State Division 1A Championship this year posting a season record of 29 wins – 2 loses. She is also a premier volleyball player who is being sought after by several colleges. Her dream is to attend the U.S. Naval Academy upon graduation from high school.
