NC SAR Rumbaugh Oratory Chairman Lowell Hoffman welcomes the contest audience

The General Francis Nash Chapter held its spring Chapter Meeting and Rumbaugh Oratory Contest at Governors Club in Chapel Hill on March 14.

Four outstanding Student-Orators competed in what were the closest results in the Chapter’s history.

The Judges then retired and the contestants introduced themselves, and there was a general discussion of the value of public speaking skill. The winning 2026 GFN and State Youth Video, by 2025 GFN, State and National Rumbaugh Oration Champion Johnathan Paul was screened.

Everyone adjourned for lunch, and a brief Chapter Meeting followed.  Membership Certificates were presented during the day, and at the meeting itself, to all awaiting them who attended.  Former President Albert Segars, whose work took him out of the area, received the Past President Pin and a Meritorious Service Medal for his leadership of the Chapter after Covid.

Chapter Rumbaugh Oratory Chairman Guy Guidry then announced the Judges’ decisions:  1st Place, Giuliana Greto, with her Oration, Resilient Through and Through; 2nd Place, Audrey Palmer; and 3rd Place, Aria Browndyke.  Giuliana will go on to compete in the State Rumbaugh Oratory Contest at the NC SAR Annual Meeting, on March 28.
