NCSSAR Blue Ridge Chapter January 2023 Activity
First North Carolina Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. Chartered 21 April 1928 in Asheville, North Carolina, and later became the Blue Ridge Chapter.
January was another busy month for the Blue Ridge Chapter Color Guard. On January 17, 2023, Blue Ridge Color Guard members Craig Isacson, Lance Dickinson, Ken Weglarz & Steve Greene presented colors at the National Event of the Battle of Cowpens. COWPENS On January 27, 2023, Blue Ridge Color Guard members Garry Linton & Lance Dickinson wore their Colonial Uniforms and presented colors at the Naturalization Ceremony at the Federal Courthouse in Charlotte, North Carolina. There were 65 new United States citizens sworn in and honored by a large-capacity crowd. Then, on January 28, 2023, Blue Ridge Color Guard members Garry Linton and Craig Issacson traveled to Huntersville, North Carolina, to present colors at the site of Cowan’s Ford Battle Field. This was another 200-plus-mile trip for our busy Color Guard members. This event was attended by more than 100 patriotic citizens.
Our new Chapter President is Steve Greene, the new Vice-President is Garry Linton, Paul Grass remains our Secretary and current Blue Ridge Chapter Treasurer Ron Hillabrand will become the Assistant Treasurer and David Simler will become the new chapter Treasurer.
It is easy to see that the Blue Ridge Chapter is an active, energetic, busy chapter that is always looking for new members to help us reach our goals for the recognition of the sacrifices our Patriots made for us to enjoy all the freedoms we have today.
