Blue Ridge Color Guard at Grave Marking Ceremony October 4, 2025
Chartered 21 April 1928 in Asheville, North Carolina, it later became the Blue Ridge Chapter and is the oldest active Chapter in Western North Carolina.
On October 4, 2025, in Etowah, North Carolina, a Grave Marking Ceremony was held with 24 people who were in attendance for this solemn event. Patriot Joseph Henry was honored by the Blue Ridge Color Guard, several Daughters of the American Revolution Chapters who also provided wreaths.
The following DAR Chapters are as follows: Ruth Davidson Chapter (Becky Wood), Abraham Kuykendall Chapter (Connie Issacson and Karen Newhall), and Waightstill Avery Chapter (Jill Chapman).
The following Blue Ridge members who participated were: Craig Issacson (Grave Marking Committee) served as Master of Ceremony, Brett Callaway and Garry Linton read portions of the program, and Tom Rightmyer served as Chaplain. Compatriot John Mathews read a biography of Patriot Joseph Henry. Blue Ridge Color Guard members who displayed colors were: Brett Callaway, Larry Chapman, Craig Issacson, Garry Linton, Ken Weglarz, and Bob Wood.
It is easy to see that the Blue Ridge Chapter is an active, energetic, busy Chapter that is always looking for new members to help us reach our challenging goals for the recognition of the sacrifices our Patriots made for us to enjoy all the freedoms we have today.
