Blue Ridge Color Guard at the Battle of Black Hole September 16, 2023

Chartered 21 April 1928 in Asheville, North Carolina, later became the Blue Ridge Chapter, and is the oldest active Chapter in Western North Carolina.

The Color Guard of the Blue Ridge Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution represented by President Steve Greene in his Militia Outfit, participated in the “Battle of the Black Hole Commemoration Ceremony” in Macon County, NC on Wayah Creek near Franklin, NC. The gathering was on 16 September 2023 from 1-5 p.m. Presented were the colors, a Cherokee War Dance by warrior of Anikituhwa, and a Black Powder Gun Salute by the Patriot Militia. Joe Sam Queen, President of the Western Waters NCSSAR Chapter, gave Commemorative remarks. The Kings Mountain NCSSAR Chapter took an active part in the program with their Black Powder Gun Salute. The ceremony was attended by about 35 people.

It is easy to see that the Blue Ridge Chapter is an active, energetic, busy Chapter that is always looking for new members to help us reach our challenging goals for the recognition of the sacrifices our Patriots made for us to enjoy all the freedoms we have today.
