New Bern Chapter and NCSSDAR RDS Chapter Participates in Grave Marking

On Saturday, 10 December 2022, the New Bern Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution and the Richard Dobbs Spaight Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution conducted a “Patriots In Partnership” grave marking for Patriot Solomon Wetherington (P-317057 & A123574). The ceremony was conducted at the Solomon Wetherington Cemetery (C-0152180, Find-A-Grave Cemetery # 2326551) located off Rollover Creek Road, Tuscarora, Craven County, NC on the Rollover Downs Stables owned and operated by Bethanna Perry and family. The grave site grid coordinates are: 35.1491139, -77.2458833. Descendants attending and participating in the ceremony were Jeannie Moore Tyson, Phyllis Moore Mills, Terry Wetherington, Charles Wetherington (all 4th Great Grandchildren); Charles Francis Tyson, III (5th Great Grandson), Ava Taylor Tyson & Charlotte Francis Tyson (6th Great Granddaughters). Joe and Audry Moore Weatherington were unable to attend but helped prepare the ceremony site on 9 December 2022 along with other descendants of Patriot Solomon Wetherington. Jay DeLoach, President, NC Society, SAR attended, served in the Color Guard and brought greetings and presented honors on behalf of the North Carolina Society, Sons ofthe American Revolution. Richard Dobbs Spaight Chapter-DAR members attending and participating in the ceremony were: Sims Wayt (Regent), Jeannie Moore Tyson, Mary Lynne Keener (Chaplain), Paden Kitchen, Suzanne Richey, Donna Porter Ainsley, and Jodi DeLoach. New Bern Chapter-SAR members attending and participating in the ceremony were: Bob Ainsley (President & Color Guard), (Rolf Maris (Past President & Color Guard), Rob Webster (Vice-President & Color Guard), Gary Gillette (Registrar & Color Guard), Scott Brick (secretary & Color Guard), Bob Rigg (Color Guard Commander), Carelton Webster (Color Guard), and Jeff Perkins (Color Guard & Presentation of Honors for the New Bern Chapter). Bill Riggan, III (Registrar, Halifax Chapter) attended and brought greetings and presented honors on behalf of the Halifax Chapter, NC SAR. ALL attendees participated in the Dedication of the Patriot Marker. The DAR & SAR provided a Certificate of Appreciation to Bethanna Perry of Rollover Downs Stables for the support provided in making the ceremony a success.
