NEW BERN CHAPTER PARTICIPATES IN WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA AT THE NEW BERN NATIONAL CEMETERY

Members of the New Bern Chapter, NC SAR attended and participated in the Wreaths Across America (WAA) Ceremony on Saturday, 17 December 2022 at the New Bern National Cemetery. Bob Ainsley (uniform), President, New Bern Chapter opened the ceremony by reading President General C. Bruce Pickette’s “2022 Wreaths Across America Proclamation” to a crowd estimated at 500 attendees. Gary Gillette, New Bern Chapter Registrar, delivered the Invocation. Jay Deloach (uniform), RDML, USN (Ret), President, North Carolina Society of the American Revolution was in attendance and participated in the laying of 5,000 wreaths at the cemetery. Other members of the New Bern Chapter attending and laying wreaths were Rick Layton, Paul Higbee (Treasurer), Bob Mull, Bob Rigg, Bruce Martin (uniform), Rob Webster (Vice-President) (uniform), and Carleton Webster (uniform). New Bern Chapter was able to raise 491 sponsored wreaths or ~10% of the wreaths that were laid on Saturday.
