The Halifax Resolves Chapter NCSSAR has selected a brochure entry by Carolina Crumb, an 8th grade student at Halifax Academy, as the chapter level winner of this year’s contest.  Students were given a choice of 5 topics: The Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights or the Federalist Papers.  The student was required to produce an original brochure in favor of or against their selected document.  Carolina’s brochure compared the good and bad points of the Articles of Confederation.  There was a combined total of 167 entries this year from Chaloner MS and Halifax Academy.

For her efforts, Carolina received a winner’s certificate and a check for $100.00.  Her teacher, Mrs. Tracey Lynch, received a check for $50.00.  The presentation was made by Ken Wilson, President of the Halifax Resolves Chapter NCSSAR.  Carolina’s brochure will now advance to the state contest to be held May 14th at Alamance Battleground during the Patriot’s Day activities.

Carolina is the daughter of Mikey and Elizabeth Corum.
