The Halifax Resolves Chapter NCSSAR and the Elizabeth Montfort-Ashe Chapter NSDAR hosted a luncheon at the Halifax UMC in Halifax, NC to celebrate the birthday of founding father General George Washington.  Halifax Resolves Chapter President Ken Wilson and Elizabeth Montfort-Ashe Chapter Regent Carol Guidry shared the master of ceremonies duties.  The SAR was represented by the Halifax Resolves and Alamance Battleground Chapters and the DAR was represented by the Elizabeth Montfort Ashe, Joseph McDowell, Micijah Petaway – Halifax Resolves and Warren Chapters.  SAR greetings were brought on by NCSSAR State Treasurer Dr. Samuel C. Powell, PhD.  NC DAR State Vice-Regent Crickett Crigler brought greetings on behalf of the DAR.

Following a delicious meal and great fellowship, a presentation on the life and times of General George Washington was given by Dr. Powell.

This was the first time such an event has been held in the local area and there are hopes it will become an annual event.
