New Bern Chapter Honors WWII Veteran

On Saturday, 20 March, members of the New Bern Chapter, and attending members of the Richard Dobbs Spaight Chapter, of the DAR, paid honor to a 94-year old SAR Chapter member, Compatriot Richard Walker Flynn, by presenting him a 15-year Service Pin with a Certificate and awarding him the SAR War Service Medal with a Bronze WW II Bar, and induction into the NSSAR World War II Veterans Corps.  Mr. Flynn was drafted by the Army in 1944, was then later assigned to Anti-Tank Company 88th Infantry Division, and served as an Infantryman Cannoneer, with a 57MM Anti-Tank Gun, in Italy from 1944 to 1945.  Mr. Flynn’s son, Richard Flynn, and the members of the New Bern SAR Chapter Color Guard were present to help with the honors.
