On Wednesday, 3 March 2021 the New Bern Chapter of the North Carolina Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (NCSSAR), presented the SAR Fire Safety Commendation Medal to Fire Specialist Ethan Polk and the SAR Emergency Medical Services Commendation medal to EMT Jackson Parker, both of the New Bern Fire-Rescue Department, for their accomplishments and outstanding contributions in the areas of fire safety and emergency medical services.  Bob Ainsley, President of the New Bern Chapter, presented the Emergency Medical Services Commendation Medal to EMT Jackson Parker and Rob Webster, Vice-President of the New Bern Chapter, presented the Fire Safety Commendation Medal to Fire Specialist Ethan Polk.
