The SAR Life Saving Medal is presented to those individuals who have acted to save a human life without necessarily placing their own life or themselves in imminent danger. Following that criteria, the Halifax Resolves Chapter, North Carolina Sons of the American Revolution presented this award to Roanoke Rapids Fire Department Station 1, C-Shift members Battalion Chief Tim Gray; Engineer Michael Butts, Jr.; Firefighter Will Harris and Firefighter Ben Clements.

The Roanoke Rapids Fire Department Station 1, C-Shift crew responded to a local apartment complex in reference to a 55 year old male with chest pains and difficulty breathing.  Upon arrival Firefighters began to administer CPR along with assisting EMS with further treatment.  After roughly 30 minutes of crews performing CPR and EMS administering medications the patient re-gained a pulse.  The patient was transported to Halifax Regional Hospital and was then transferred to another medical facility where he was later discharged with a pace maker and has since recovered.

Halifax Resolves Chapter members E. C. Bobbitt and Ken Wilson made the presentations.
