New Bern Chapter Members Act as Docents

On April 13, as part of the 2019 Heritage Home Tours, members of New Bern SAR Chapter served as docents at the Historic William Hollister House, at 613 Broad Street in New Bern.  The home was built between 1840 and 1841, by William Hollister.  He was one of New Bern’s most successful merchants and ship owner in the early nineteenth century.  William Hollister was born in Lyme, Connecticut in 1777 and was the son of Giles Hollister, a successful privateer during the Revolutionary War.

New Bern Chapter members who participated were: Jay DeLoach, and his wife Jodi, Rolf Maris and his wife Becky (also a member of the DAR), Gary Gillette, Lee Purcell, Bob Ainsley, Bob Shuck and his wife Betsy, Michael Soares and his wife Luci, Paul Higbee and his wife Louise and Ken McCotter.
