Halifax Resolves SAR Knight Essay Winner Announced

The Halifax Resolves SAR Chapter has selected Amber Silver, a junior at Nash Central HS, the winner of the chapter level George S. and Stella M. Knight Essay contest. Amber’s essay was entitled “Our Founding Mothers” and highlighted the contributions of some of the prominent women of the American Revolution such as Martha Washington and Abigail Adams.  For her efforts, she received an Olympic style medal with chapter level winners certificate and a check for $100.00.  Her entry will now be sent to the state level competition for consideration.  Halifax Resolves chapter member Ken Wilson made the presentation.

The George S. and Stella M. Knight Essay contest is open to students in the 9th -12th grades.  The essay must be 800-1200 words in length and pertain to the American Revolution.
