Halifax Resolves SAR Selects History Teacher of the Year

During the Halifax Resolves Chapter NC SAR annual meeting, Mr. Renny Taylor, AP History Teacher at Nash Central HS was selected as the chapter level winner of the Dr. Tom and Betty Lawrence American History Teacher Award.  Mr. Taylor received a certificate of commendation for his work in the classroom, a book entitled “In the Hurricane’s Eye: The Genius of George Washington and the Victory at Yorktown” by Nathaniel Philbrick and a check for $150.00.  His entry will now be sent forward to the state level for consideration.

In addition, Mr. Taylor also received a certificate of commendation for his support of the SAR George S. and Stella M. Knight Essay Contest.  Fifteen of his students entered this essay contest related to the Revolutionary War.  The presentations were made by Halifax Resolves Chapter President David B. Gammon.
