Col. Alexander Erwin Chapter, SAR invites you to attend the Dedication of “The Crossing” of Greenlee Ford Monument to be held Sunday, October 1, 2023 at Greenlee Ford, Morganton, NC with the ceremony beginning at 2pm. For more information, please contact Robert Patton ().
SAR, DAR, C.A.R. and other patriotic and lineage societies & chapters are invited to participate in a formal wreath laying ceremony at the United States’ Monument. Participants presenting a wreath must deliver it to the park’s Visitor Center no later than 9:45 am on October 7th for labeling and transportation to the monument. Transportation will be provided for those needing assistance to the monument.
Please email all wreath registrations to Grantham Wood at no later than Saturday, September 30th for the registration to be included in the Scroll of Honor which will be presented on-screen at the Kings Mountain Visitor’s Center during the day. The email should include the name of the organization and the presenter’s name with their title.

The annual commemorative ceremony will be held at 11 am at the old historic Huntsville Methodist Church, 4214 Mt. Sinai Drive, Huntsville, NC, followed by lunch at the Battle Branch Café, 2505 Farmington Road, Huntsville, NC 27055. Please register for wreath presentations and Color Guard by October 8th, 2023.
A Compatriot grave marking ceremony will be conducted by the Halifax Resolves Chapter of the SAR for Compatriot Frank Hart Saunders, Compatriot Luther Rice Mills II, and Compatriot Dennis Hutson Holliday on the morning of October 21st at 10:00 am. The location of the ceremony is the Trinity Church, Scotland Neck, NC. A second ceremony will take place that afternoon, at 1:30 pm, for Compatriot Ernest Carl Witt.
