Ceremonial Procession Commemorating 200th Anniversary of the 1825 visit to Fayetteville by the Marquis de Lafayette
First Presbyterian Church102 Ann St, Fayetteville, NC 28301, USAThe Lafayette Society, in conjunction with the Marquis de Lafayette Society NCSSAR, the Liberty Point Chapter NCSDAR, The Col Robert Rowan Chapter NCSDAR and The Colonial Dames invite all to attend the ceremonial procession commemorating the 200 year anniversary of the 1825 visit to Fayetteville by the Marquis de Lafayette, The ceremony will take place on March 4, 2025 at Lafayette Plaza in front of First Presbyterian Church at 102 Ann Street in downtown Fayetteville NC. The ceremony and procession will begin promptly at 12pm.
All participants are asked to contact Color Guard Commander John Elliott no later than February 25, 2025 at "> . Participants are asked to bring colors as well as flag stakes for each flag posted. All colors will be preposted during the ceremony.Participants may carry muskets, if desired, or any other ceremonial item or just march to the preposted color area without arms or other items. Please coordinate at the site no later than 11am on March 4, 2025 in order to properly coordinate. Details for other events including a dinner and ball are being sponsored by The Lafayette Society and those events are posted at LafayetteSociety.org

244th Anniversary of the Battle of Guilford Courthouse

General Francis Nash Rumbaugh Oratory Competition
Governors Club11000 Governors Dr, Chapel Hill, NC 27517, USANorth Carolina SAR Oratory Contest Chairman Lowell Hoffman kicks off the Rumbaugh Competition The General Francis Nash Chapter will hold its Joseph S. Rumbaugh Historical Orations Competition on Saturday, March 22nd, from 9:45 AM to 12 Noon at Governors Club in Chapel Hill.
Hear 8 gifted young Orators and be inspired. Following the Competition will be the General Francis Nash Chapter Meeting and SAR Oratory Contest Awards Luncheon, where the winner will be announced and repeat their Oration. The winners of the three Chapters competing, Alamance Battleground, GFN, and Raleigh will then compete in person for the State title, at the NC SAR Annual Meeting on April 5, in Greensboro. That winner will go on to participate in the National SAR Oratory Contest, which concludes at the SAR National Congress in July in Connecticut.

While there will be complimentary scones, fruit, coffee and juice for the morning session, starting at 8:45am, there will be a charge of $25/person for the buffet luncheon.
