the corner of Burke St and S Hughes Blvd in Elizabeth City, North Carolina.
Sergeant John Harris
John Harris was born in Pasquotank County, North Carolina about Jan 1756. He died in Pasquotank County in about August 1846. He served in several formations of the Pasquotank/Edenton District Militia, participating in such engagements as the Battle of Great Bridge, the Battle of Brier Creek and the capture of 300 Tories in the western part of North Carolina. Sergeant Harris is buried in the Harris/Love family cemetery at the corner of Burke Street and S. Hughes Blvd in Elizabeth City, NC.
