General Francis Nash Chapter Meeting

The General Francis Nash Chapter met at the University Club in Durham on September 27.  Past State President Steve Van Pelt presented details from the July Connecticut SAR Annual Congress, and the many requirements for volunteers for the 2026 SAR Annual Congress to be held in Greensboro, July 10-16.

Appropriate recognition was proposed and approved for Orange County Historical Museum Exhibits and Programs Coordinator  Courtney Smith, who organized the recent Third North Carolina Provincial Assembly 250th Anniversary Celebration.

The upcoming grave marking for Private William McConkey Townsend in Lumberton on October 11 was discussed, and a new wreath authorized, if necessary.

Ralph Nelson received his NC Company of Minutemen Cockade, and Rod Mullen was presented the Bronze America 250 Medal.  Special recognition was given to Lowell Hoffman, for his hole-in-one on May 31 at Governors Club.
