Chartered 21 April 1928 in Asheville, North Carolina later became the Blue Ridge Chapter and is the oldest active Chapter in Western North Carolina.

Blue Ridge Chapter NCSSAR Compatriots Lance Dickinson and Larry Chapman had the honor of going to William “Bill” Burkhart’s home to present his SAR Military Service Award. Jill Chapman went with them as Bill’s wife Deborah is in Jill’s DAR Chapter. It was a proud moment for Bill and all of those who were at this event. We thanked him for his service to our country and the SAR. With Bill approaching 91 years old, it was truly a great honor for all of us.
