Mecklenburg SAR chapter member John Allen delivers his Vietnam War experience to the Alexandriana and Mecklenburg DAR chapters on February 13 2016 at Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Huntersville, NC.

“Compatriot Allen has been speaking regularly at area DAR meetings about his Vietnam War tour and it has become quite popular,” said Mecklenburg SAR chapter vice president Ken Luckey. “John has a very interesting story about his service and he ties it in to his eight Revolutionary War ancestors and their service.”

The Mecklenburg chapter members were also on hand to answer questions about joining the SAR and researching potential member’s ancestry. In the photo below, left to right, Mecklenburg chapter members Jim Tatum, Ken Luckey, John Allen and Jay Joyce are on hand to answer questions during the genealogy workshop.

Members of the Mecklenburg chapter SAR are on hand at the SAR and DAR genealogy workshop on February 13 2016 in Huntersville, NC.

“These genealogy workshops are important to our chapter because we are able to reach out to community members that otherwise would not have contact with the Sons of the American Revolution,” added Luckey. “Working together with the DAR gives us more opportunities to meet more potential members and work in conjunction with our DAR sisters.”
