The Halifax Resolves and Albemarle Chapters will marked the grave of Compatriot Dr. Cleveland Melvin Hawkins on November 5th in Elizabeth City. Compatriot Hawkins was a charter member of the Halifax Resolves Chapter, its first Secretary/Treasurer and second Chapter President before assuming the role of Region 1 Vice President. Dr. Hawkins was also a driving force in the formation of the Albemarle Chapter.
The ceremony will be held at 2:00 pm on November 5th, at the West Lawn Cemetery, 1909 W. Main St. in Elizabeth City, NC 27909.
The Family of Dr. Hawkins cordially invites all attendees to a reception following the ceremony from 3:00 – 5:00 at the Albemarle Bowling Center, 603 S. Hughes Boulevard, Elizabeth City, NC.

Directions: Follow NC HWY 16 north to Taylorsville NC
16 north 3.5 miles past uptown Taylorsville, turn left onto Little River Church Rd
3 miles, a slight right onto Mount Olive Church Rd
2 miles, turn left onto Robinette Rd
1.5 miles, turn right onto Boone Gap Ln
.5 miles on left is the cemetery on a hillIf one enters the address or cemetery name in a car GPS, it will take you through the woods, down a gravel rd. on a trip that is about 20 minutes longer than this route. to the cemetery and a map to the gravesite.

The Blue Ridge Chapter Color Guard will present Colors at the Transylvania County Courthouse at 11:00 a.m. on November 11, 2022, to help celebrate the annual Veterans Day Program.
All members are invited to attend this solemn ceremony and honor all of our veterans.
It is easy to see that the Blue Ridge Chapter is an active, energetic and busy chapter that is always looking for new members to help us reach our challenging goals for the recognition of the sacrifices our Patriots made for us to enjoy the freedoms we have today.

The Halifax Resolves Chapter will mark the graves of two of the early North Carolina Society compatriots in two ceremonies.
The first will honor Compatriot Clarence A. Wyche (22846 / 46) who served as the NCSSAR National Trustee from 1913-1915. The ceremony will be held at 10:00 November 19th at Cedarwood Cemetery, in Roanoke Rapids.
The second ceremony will honor Joseph P. Pippen (22837 / 37) at 1:00 in Sunset Hills Cemetery, Littleton, NC.

The Sandhills Chapter will conduct a grave marking for Patriot Nathan Alaxander Stedman 3rd in Pittsboro NC on Saturday November 19th 2022 at 11:00 AM.
Nathan Alaxander Stedman 3rd joined the revolution in 1776 at the age of 14 with the infantry in Connecticut. He later served as a privateer until his capture. After the war he came to North Carolina where he represented the state in the Senate. He was buried in Pittsboro at his family cemetery which was lost and recently rediscovered
