The Mecklenburg chapter presented the SAR Law Enforcement Commendation Medal to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Detective Daniel Hernandez today for his outstanding service to community.

Officer Hernandez has been with CMPD since 2001. His ability to understand and relate to the people he served on a daily basis was recognized early on and later led to him helping establish the department’s International Relations Unit. Through his work efforts, Officer Hernandez expanded CMPD’s response and awareness to the diverse cultural make up that exist in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area by creating protocols, forging connections and building relationships that would allow officers to communicate effectively with those they serve and eventually form a bond of trust.
