On August 26th, the New Bern Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, along with the Richard Dobbs Spaight Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Christ Episcopal Church, North Carolina History Center at Tryon Palace, St. Johns Masonic Lodge #3, the National Sojourners, Inc. “Heroes of 1776” and Troops 13, 97, 132, 219, 584, 1884, 9133 and Pack 130 of the East Carolina Council, BSA, hosted the 249th Anniversary Observance of the “New Bern Resolves”. A procession of members from these organizations proceeded down Middle Street to Christ Episcopal Church where a ceremony was held to observe the historical event. The Keynote Speaker for the ceremony was Nelson McDaniel, Historian, New Bern Historical Society. The event was attended by about 400 people.
