The Blue Ridge Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution was the first North Carolina chapter. It was chartered on 21 April 1928 in Asheville, NC, and later became the Blue Ridge Chapter.

 

The Blue Ridge Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution have scheduled a grave marking ceremony to honor Patriot Sergeant Charles Crawford Lewis. Patriot Lewis served several tours of duty in the Revolution, totaling two years, and was involved in protecting the frontier settlements from Cherokee attacks as well as working on the defenses of Charleston, South Carolina. Patriot Lewis is buried in a small family cemetery not far from the Green Hill Community Center.

The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at the Green Hills Community Center located at 2501 US 64, Rutherfordton, North Carolina. It is just a few miles west of Rutherfordton. If you are traveling east on US 64, it will be on the right-hand side of the road.

All compatriots and interested parties are invited to attend this solemn ceremony.
