Blue Ridge Chapter Grave Marking Ceremony
Chartered 21 April 1928 in Asheville, North Carolina, it later became the Blue Ridge Chapter and is the oldest active Chapter in Western North Carolina.
On March 22, 2025, at the Mills River Presbyterian Church in Mills River, North Carolina, the Blue Ridge Color Guard presented colors during a grave marking ceremony for Patriot James Brittain. The Blue Ridge Chapter also provided the order of service, including a wreath, and rendering honors for Patriot James Brittain.
The Daughters of the American Revolution Ruth Davidson Chapter (Becky Wood), Abraham Kuykendall Chapter ( Connie Issacson and Karen Newhall), and Waightstill Avery Chapter (Jill Chapman) also provided wreaths and rendered honors.
Blue Ridge Chapter members participating in this solemn ceremony were Craig Issacson, Ron Hillabrand, Ron Chapman, Gary King, Tom Rightmyer, and David Galentine. Blue Ridge Chapter member Jack Tate was also in attendance.
Color Guard members who presented the colors were Bret Callaway, Larry Chapman, Garry Linton, Brian McCall, Ken Weglarz, and Bob Wood.
About 30 people attended this chilly, windy event.
It is easy to see that the Blue Ridge Chapter is an active, energetic, busy Chapter that is always looking for new members to help us reach our challenging goals for the recognition of the sacrifices our Patriots made for us to enjoy all the freedoms we have today.
