Members of the NCSAR New Bern Chapter and General George Washington Chapter Color Guard “Presented the Colors” to a packed attendance at the opening ceremonies of the MiLB baseball game between the Down East Wood Ducks and Carolina Mud Cats on Monday, 3 July 2023 at the Grainger Stadium in Kinston, NC. New Bern Chapter Color Guard members participating were Jay DeLoach, Scott Brick, Gary Gillette, Rob Webster, Bob Ainsley, Bob Savacool, Lee Purcell, Carleton Webster and Bob Rigg (Color Guard Commander). A very special note of recognition for George Strunk and Kenny Smith of the General George Washington Chapter, Goldsboro, NC who were joined by Scott Brick in the musket volley presentation immediately following the singing of the “Star-Spangled Banner.” Tammy Gillette, Vice-Regent, Bobbi Webster, Louise Higbee and Donna Ainsley were in attendance from the Richard Dobbs Spaight Chapter, DAR, New Bern, NC. After a one-and-a-half-hour rain delay numerous family members and friends joined the SAR and DAR members at the Mother Earth Pavilion for a great social evening of baseball, hamburgers, hot dogs and peanuts followed by a spectacular fireworks display.
