In a ceremony on May 5, GFN ROTC Chairman Guy Guidry presented the SAR Outstanding JROTC Cadet Medal to Riverside High School JROTC Cadet Francisco Forrester.  Recipients are selected by the Commanding Officer of the ROTC Unit, based on leadership qualities, military bearing, and general excellence.

Forrester, a rising Senior, varsity football player, and National Honor Society member, previously was awarded second place in the GFN Rumbaugh Oratory Competition.  He plans to apply to the U.S. Naval Academy with a goal of being a commissioned officer in the U.S. Marine Corps.

The Riverside JROTC currently has 117 cadets.  Their leader is Major Roger Bailey, USAF.
