New Bern Chapter Honors Local Police Officer
On 16 March, the New Bern Chapter of the NCSAR, honored a New Bern City Police Officer. During a ceremony held at the New Bern City Hall, Jay DeLoach, President of the NCSAR, presented Officer Christopher D. Philyaw with the SAR Law Enforcement Commendation and Medal. The Law Enforcement Commendation and Medal is presented to an Officer who has served with distinction and devotion in the field of law enforcement. The Medal is given to an Officer to recognize his or her exceptional service and/or accomplishments in the field of law enforcement. Officer Philyaw received the Commendation and Medal, based on the recommended of his superiors.
Others in attendance were: New Bern Chief of Police Pat Gallagher, New Bern Mayor Jeff Odham, New Bern Chapter Color Guard members, Gary Gillette and Bruce Martin, SAR members Bob Mull, Bob Rigg, Don Eglinton, Rick Layton and Warren Krudson, DAR Richard Dobbs Spaight Chapter member Sally Mull, several members of Officer Philyaw’s family and several other New Bern City Police Officers.
