In celebration of the 250th anniversary of America and what it took for us to gain our liberty, Catawba Valley Chapter remembered the 253th anniversary of the Boston Massacre, on the steps of the historical Lincoln County Courthouse, on Saturday, 4 March 2023. There was a small crowd of about 30 people in attendance. Chapter President Ben Setser was Master of Ceremony and spoke on the happenings on the evening of 5 March 1770 in Boston and those who died in the Massacre. Jacob Forney DAR Chaplain Pat Hance brought greetings from the DAR. State Color Guard Commander Stephen McKee portrayed Dr Joseph Warren, patriot and first Grand Master of all Masons in Massachusetts who was killed at the Battle of Bunker Hill, with excerpts of his oration at the second anniversary of the Massacre. Catawba Valley Chapter Treasurer Dan Beal spoke on other Masons who contributed to the war effort. It was a great day in honor of our American Patriots.
