Historic Halifax Volunteer, Author and Re-Enactor Honored Posthumously
Henry C. “Hank” Brown, Jr. was remembered and honored at a memorial service in Historic Halifax, NC. Friends, family, members of the 6th North Carolina Regiment of Continental Line and the Halifax Resolves Chapter NCSSAR gathered on a rainy afternoon at the Tap Room to tell stories about Hank and to honor his work to preserve the history of the founding of this nation. NCSSAR Sr. Vice President and Albemarle Chapter Chaplain Chris Grimes spoke about some of his adventures with Hank and assisted Halifax Resolves Chapter President Ken Wilson in presenting Hank’s widow with the posthumous award of the SAR Bronze Good Citizenship Medal “in recognition of notable services on behalf of our American principles.” Following the presentation, a musket volley was fired by members of the 6th North Carolina and a cannon volley was fired by Sr. VP Grimes.
