On Wednesday, 30 March 2022, Dr. Bob Ainsley, President of the New Bern Chapter shared some quality time with Mrs. Williams’ and Mrs. Gaskins’ fourth grade students of The Epiphany School of Global Studies (see picture), New Bern, NC covering the SAR Americanism Poster Contest. After covering the purpose, rules, details and some sample event ideas (…and the students were well-versed on American Revolution events!) of the contest the students were introduced to the Rudyard Kipling poem “I Keep Six Honest Serving Men” and the importance of Kipling’s Men: “WHAT, WHY, WHEN, HOW, WHERE and WHO” as they conduct research, decide on their topic and storyboard their poster concept to tell their individual event story. The students followed up with “one million HOWs, two million WHEREs, and seven million WHYs!” This was a wonderful visit. Judging will be conducted by 1 May 2022 in time for the NC SAR state-level judging on 14 May 2022 at the Alamance Battleground.
