On Sunday, 6 March 2022, Color Guard members of the New Bern Chapter – NC Sons of the American Revolution, conducted a Certificate of Appreciation ceremony for Kevin Hynes, US Air Force veteran and Purple Heart recipient, at his New Bern Carolina Colours’ residence for his service in the US Air Force and his Outstanding Support to Our Nation’s Veteran Community. Also bringing greetings during the ceremony were his Purple Heart Chapter, the Craven County Veterans Council (CCVC), the American Legion, the Vietnam Veterans of America and over 100 Carolina Colours community friends, neighbors and family members. The New Bern Chapter Color Guard members participating in the ceremony were Lee Purcell, Gary Gillette, Bob Ainsley, Bob Rigg, Bruce Martin and Rolf Maris. Assisting the New Bern Chapter on the program was Ann Courtney who fifed the US Air Force song “Wild Blue Yonder” in helping to conclude the ceremony
